What
should i think when design a new logo?
You should think if you want a illustrative logo ( a logo that includes
an illustrative representation of what your company does), a graphic
logo (a logo that includes a graphic - or abstract - representation
of what your company does), or a font-based logo (a dynamic type treatment
that is unique to your company), or a combination of all three. You
should also consider the future usage's of your logo as this can determine
the technical set up of your design and might pose some design limitations
(kooldesignfactory can advise you of these limitations and possible
workarounds). You should also consider color choices - whether you
utilize a two spot color, or four color process design will greatly
impact any reproduction rates in the future. Once again, kooldesignfactory
can advise you on the ways to maximize your reproduction possibilities
while maintaining your Logo dynamics.

What
are the fundamentals in Brochure Designing?
There are many things you need to consider in brochure designing.
What does Your company want this brochure to do? whether it is a marketing
brochure or it is the brochure to introduce some new product. Your
company may have multiple reasons for designing a brochure. Organize
them in order of most to least important. So keep all these things
in mind and try to give your brochure a full professional look with
an excellent contents.
What
are the different File formats?
1:Vector (AI) format - Adobe Illustrator default: During the
creation process, we work in. AI format. This file is editable both
in PC (Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, Corel Draw and Micrograph
Designer) or MAC (Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand) software.
2:Vector (EPS) Format - Adobe Illustrator EPS: This is the
format we create for your Printing Facility. This format can be imported
into most PC and MAC desktop publishing software. Your Printing Facility
will use this file. It contains font and color information.
3:GIF or JPG (Depends on the shading) This is the file you
will use on your own web sites and email templates. It has been optimized
for crisp, quick loading.
4:300 dpi RGB BMP: (BMP) This format can be imported into most
PC applications. Simply insert into Word documents to print your own
color letterheads, envelopes and business cards. See your logo in
print, minutes after delivery! (color printer needed)
5:300 dpi CMYK TIFF: (TIFF) This format can be imported into
most PC and MAC applications. File size may be extremely large, due
to resolution. Can be used for Full color printing. However we suggest
using your Vector EPS file, for Printing Facilities.
How
does Vector and Raster images are Different ?
Vector Images:
Vector images are created in a Vector drawing program, such as Adobe
Illustrator, Corel Draw or Freehand. Vector images are stored mathematically,
rather than by pixels. They can be resized in a Vector drawing program,
without loss of image quality. For this reason, most logos are created
in Vector format. Vector images are perfect for printing, they have
unlimited resolution.
Advantages of the Vector file format:
File size is very small. (unlimited resolution!) Images can be printed
in 1, 2 and 3 SPOT Colors. (Offset printing) Images can be printed
in Full Color CMYK (4 Color printing process) Color changes and editing
can be made instantly (with software) Each design element can be edited
separately. Files can be resized without any loss of quality. File
size is small enough to fit on a floppy disk.
You will receive: 1 Adobe Illustrator Vector EPS file for your Printing
Facility. We suggest you make backups of this file.
Notice how the Rasterized image to the left gets very fuzzy after
being enlarged. You see each pixel.
Raster Images (Also called bitmapped or pixilated) Raster images are
created in a photo program, such as Photoshop, Painter, or Picture
Publisher. The images are stored as pixels, rather than mathematically.
Low
res. Rasterized images (GIF and JPG) are perfect for Web use, but
cannot be used for printing. They use the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) Color
mode. If you print a GIF or JPG, the edges of the image become jagged
on the print output. Do not use these files for printing.
High res. Rasterized images (TIFF) for print, should be at least 300
dpi. Using the CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and black.) color mode.
These files must be printed using a 4 color printing process, which
can be quite costly.
The actual file size of a high res. TIFF can be HUGE. For this reason,
we create our finished art in Vector format. (A Vector file with a
size of 149k, converted to high res. TIFF, can be as big at 2 MEGS.)
Advantages of Raster Images:
Low res. RGB Raster images are perfect for Web use.
Files can be imported into word processing documents, photo programs,
and web programs.
The down side of Raster images:
High res. TIF's have to be printed in 4 color - CMYK rather than the
traditional 1, 2, and 3 color offset printing method. This can be
costly. Contact your Printing Facility for Full Color pricing.
High res. TIFF file size can be HUGE, which can present problems with
transferring over phone lines, or saving to diskette.
If the image is enlarged, you will see pixels. All crispness will
be lost.
Rasterized files you will receive:
1 low res. 72 DPI GIF or JPG file for Web use. The amount of shading
in your image, will determine the file format. Do not use this file
for printing. This is a screen resolution file.
1 high res. RGB 300 dpi BMP file or 1 300 dpi CMYK TIFF for desktop
publishing on your own PC. Use this file to create your own letterheads,
envelopes and business cards. (Color printer needed)
